Michel Boutant

Michel Boutant (born November 23, 1956) is a member of the Senate of France, representing the Charente department. Boutant is a member of the Socialist Party of France. Outside of politics, Boutant also works as a German teacher.

Political Career

Boutant began his political career in 1992, becoming a member of the General Council of the Township of Montbron. In 1995, he was elected Mayor of Montbron where he stayed until 2004.

In 2004, Boutant became the President of the General Council of Charente and also remained Deputy Mayor of Montbron.

In 2008, Boutant was elected to the French Senate and currently serves on the Commission of Foreign Affairs for the Armed Forces.

Education

Boutant is a Professor of German.
