David Anderson
David Anderson is a Labour Party Member of the British parliament.
David Anderson was born on December the second 1953. He was elected as MP for Blaydon in 2005.
Political Career[edit]
David Anderson joined the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM), first as youth rep and then as branch delegate. He started work at his Local Council in Newcastle Upon Tyne and stayed in that role until March 2005, but also progressed into regional positions, including being Regional Chairman and then to being a member of the NEC of UNISON, the public service union. In 2000 he was elected to the General Council of the TUC and in 2003 he became National President of UNISON.
Anderson was first elected as MP for Blayson in the 2005 general election. He has been a member of the Northern Ireland Affairs Committee since 2005 and in 2006 was appointed as the parliamentary Private Secretary to the Education and Skills Minister Bill Rammell. He chairs the Labour Friends of Iraq group, an organisation which is dedicated to supporting ordinary Iraqis as they attempt to rebuild their lives. He has been a member of the Backbench Business Committee since 2012.
Education[edit]
David Anderson left school at 15 and started work as an apprentice fitter with the National Coal Board.
