Francesco Maria Giro
Francesco Maria Giro, born in Roma, Lazio, on May 11th 1963, has served the Italian Parliament as Senator representing the region Lazio since 2013. He is a member of Forza Italia political party.
Political Career[edit]
In 2006 Francesco Maria Giro was appointed by Berlusconi Regional Coordinator of Lazio and Commissioner for the city of Rome. Later in 2008, he was elected to the Chamber of Deputies for Popolo della Libertà political party in the district of Lazio. He held the position of Secretary of Cultural Heritage during Berlusconi government. In 2013 Francesco Maria Giro was elected senator of the XVII Legislature of the Italian Republic in the constituency of Lazio in Forza Italia-Popolo della Libertà political group. As a Senator and member of the 7th Permanent Commission on Education and Cultural Heritage, he introduced a bill with provisions for the protection, enhancement and restoration of the Italian cultural heritage. He is also Vice President of the Italian Delegation at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
