Dušan Semolič

Dušan Semolič (born August 8, 1947) is a member of the National Council of the Republic of Slovenia.

Political career

During the first multiparty parliamentary elections in April 1990, he was elected to the Parliament of the Republic of Slovenia. He was the leader of the Club Members of the Socialist Party of Slovenia.

In November 1997, Semolič was first elected a member of the National Council of the Republic of Slovenia, as a representative of employees’ interests. He was elected National Councilor again in 2002, 2007, and in December 2012.

Professional Career

Semolič started his professional career at Intertrade, the company for international trade.

In 1991, he was first elected to the post of President of the Association of Free Trade Unions of Slovenia. He has held this position ever since. He was elected for the fifth time in December 2012. Dušan Semolič is also a member of the Executive Committee of the European Trade Union Confederation.

Education

Semolič graduated in law and went on to obtain an MA in legal sciences.
