Eijsink, Angelien
Angelien Eijsink, born on april 1st in St. Isidorushoeve, the Netherlands, is a member of the Dutch House of Representatives on behalf of the Dutch Labour Party (PvdA). She has been a member of the House of Representatives since January 30th 2003.
Career[edit]
Before starting her political career with the PvdA, Eijsink held several positions within the Dutch education system. She has been working consecutively as a nursery school teacher, nursery head teacher and music teacher and deputy head teacher of a primary school between 1979 and 1985. She coordinated an education and development project for disabled children in the Philippines between 1985 and 1987, after which she returned to the Netherlands to work as a music teacher at three different secondary schools. She began working as a civil servant in 1995, when she became a policy officer with the 'Children and Development programme' of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
She remained with the Foreign Affairs Ministry until 2003, acting as Senior policy officer of both the 'Culture and Development' and 'Cultural Relations and Communication in developing countries' programmes. Between 1995 and 2003 she also was head of the Southern Africa Division of the Sub-Saharan Africa Department. She then became a member of the House of Representatives for the Dutch Labour Party. As such, she is the party's prime spokesperson for matters of defence and special education.

Eijsink holds a nursery school teacher course degree, for which she was certified in 1979. She is also a fully qualified primary school teacher, specializing in music education, as well as a certified tavel guide. She holds a Master's Degree in Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology from Leiden University, which she obtained between 1991 and 1995.
