Bram van Ojik

Bram van Ojik was born on the 22th September 1954 in Veenendaal. He is a member of the Dutch House of Representatives for the GreenLeft Party (GroenLinks). He is the current chairman of the GreenLeft-fraction in the House of Representatives.

Political career[edit]

Between 1990 and 1993 van Ojik worked as a staff member for Oxfam/Novib. Subsequently, he was a member of the House of Representatives for GreenLeft until 1994. Between 1994 and 1997 he was a freelance journalist and advisor in the field of international relations. He was the chairman of the Association for Environmental Defense (Vereniging Milieudefensie) between 1995 and 1997. Subsequently, he was the Director of information for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs until 2000. After that, he was an ambassador in general service at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for three years. Between 2003 and 2006 he was an ambassador in Benin. Between 2006 and 2009 he was the director of the Inspection for Development Cooperation and Policy Evaluation (Inspectie Ontwikkelingssamenwerking Beleidsevaluatie). Subsequently, he was the director of the Social Development department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs until 2012.

Van Ojik studied economy at the VU University in Amsterdam.
