Julia Frances Cumberlege, Baroness Cumberlege, Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, Dame of the Pontifical Equestrian Order of St. Gregory the Great, was born on 27th January 1943.

Political Career[edit]

Baroness Cumberlege joined the Lords in 1990. In 1992 she was appointed a Junior Health Minister covering for five years all health and social services matters in the House of Lords. She was also the Sponsor Minister for the city of Plymouth.

In 1997 she was Opposition Spokesperson for Health. Between 2004 and 2005 she was member of the Draft Mental Health Bill Joint Committee. She is a British Conservative Party politician and businesswoman. She created a Life Peer in 1990 as Baroness Cumberlege of Newick in the County of East Sussex.
