Lord Deighton

Paul Clive Deighton was born in Carshalton, Surrey on the 18th January 1956. He is a British politician who is a member of the Conservative Party. He is a former investment banker.

Political Career[edit]

In September 2012, David Cameron appointed Lord Deighton as a junior minister in HM government as Commercial Secretary to the Treasury starting from January 2013. Deighton’s role involved him taking the lead on matters concerning infrastructure and economic delivery.

He was also given the responsibility of implementing the governments National Infrastructure Plan and supporting the Culture Secretary with the 2012 Olympics legacy. On the 1st November 2012, he was formally created a life peer, receiving the title Baron Deighton, of Carshalton in the County of Surrey.

Education[edit]

Deighton began his education at Wallington County Grammar School. After this he went on to study at Trinity College Cambridge in which he graduated from in 1978 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics.
