Baroness Young of Old Scone
Baroness Young of Old Scone is a non-affiliated member of the House of Lords having joined in November 1997.
Political Career[edit]
Baroness Young of Old Scone began her role as a member of the EU Sub-Committee on Agriculture, Fisheries and Environment in 1998. Her main areas of policy focus range from agriculture and rural affairs, charities, climate change and environment, to transport and higher education.
She is currently a member of the Government’s Climate Change Adaptation Committee as well as holding the post of President and Vice-President of a range of wildlife and conservation charities.
Notable Work[edit]
Since 2001, she has been the Vice President for the RSPB and Bird Life International. She has been President of the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire Wildlife Trust since 2004, and President of the British Trust for Ornithology between 2005 and 2013. She has also been Chancellor of Cranfield University since 2010 as well as the Chief Executive of Diabetes UK.
