Thomas Luckmann (October 14, 1927 -)
German sociologist, best known for his contributions to the field of sociology, particularly in relation to communication, knowledge, religion and the philosophy of science. Luckmann studied at the University of Vienna, the University of Innsbruck and at the New School for Social Research in New York. He has worked as a professor in New York State, Constance, Harvard, and Frankfurt. Luckmann is known for his development of the theory of social construction.
