Yuriy Sergeyev
Yutiy Sergeyev, born in Leninakan in 1956 to a Russian father and a Ukrainian mother, has served as the Permanent representative of Ukraine to the United Nations since May 2007.
Political Career
Sergeyev served as Ambassador to France since 2003 and during this time, he was also Permanent Representative to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). He was Director of the Secretariat of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from August to December 1994, then headed the Foreign Ministry’s Directorate for Information twice, first from late 1993 to mid-1994 then again from late 1994 to 1997. From 1997 to 2000 Sergeyev was ambassador to Greece and Albania.
Education
Sergeyev graduated from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Ph.D. (1981). He is fluent in English, Russian and French. Awards He was awarded with Honorary Decree of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and on April 2013 with the State "Order of Merit" of Ukraine.
