Amb. Jelic was born in Zabreb on the 15th of October, 1949.

Political Career[edit]

In 1976 he became the Federal Secretariat of Foreign Affairs of the SFR of Yugoslavia. From 1976 to 1980, he served as the Third Secretary, Embassy of the SFR of Yugoslavia in Greece. From 1980 to 1984 he was the Second and First Secretary, First Political Directorate, and Federal Secretariat of Foreign Affairs of the SFR of Yugoslavia. From 1984 to 1988 he served as First Secretary in the Embassy of the SFR of Yugoslavia in Malaysia. From 1988 to 1991 he served as Counselor, First Counselor, Head of the Desk for Greece, Turkey and Cyprus, First Political Directorate, and Federal Secretariat of Foreign Affairs of the SFR of Yugoslavia. From 1991 to 1994 he was Counselor for the Embassy of the SFR of Yugoslavia, and FR of Yugoslavia in the Republic of Korea. From 1994 to 1999 he served in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 1999 to 2003 he was Minister Counselor in the Embassy of the FR of Yugoslavia/Serbia and Montenegro in Greece. From 2003 to 2004 he was the Deputy Director for Regional Initiatives in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia and Montenegro. From 2004 to 2005 he served as Foreign Policy Adviser of the President of the Government of the Republic of Serbia. From 2005 to 2009 he was the Ambassador of Serbia and Montenegro/Republic of Serbia in the Republic of Cyprus. From 2010 to 2011 he served as Ambassador and Director of the Department for Regional Organizations in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia. From 2011 to 2012 he was the Deputy Assistant Minister for European Integration at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia. Since November 9, 2013 he has served as Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the Holy See. Besides his native Serbian he speaks Greek, English and Italian. He is married and has two children.

Education[edit]

He received a BA in Law from the University of Zagreb in 1973.
