Helmi Vent has a rich background in various cultural studies such as music education and music performance (violin) with an emphasis on chamber music at the University of Music in Cologne, as well as sports science with emphasis on dance at the University of Bonn.

Biography

She started her career as a teacher at upper secondary schools. Since 1983 Helmi Vent became a full professor at the Mozarteum University Salzburg in Austria. Now she conducts an artistic research project “LIA-Lab Inter Arts” which focuses on development of process-oriented methods of improvisation, composition and performance staging through video and text.


Education

She studied pedagogy and philosophy (University of Cologne); musicology (University of Bonn); and dance (Folkwang-Hochschule Essen). Further training since 1998, includes Embodied Voice Work (New York).

Notable Works

Publications of Prof. Helmi Vent include works on: performance, experimental music; theater; dance theatre and pedagogy of music and dance. She is a guest professor at academies and universities in Europe, USA, Japan, Indonesia, Australia, India, Mongolia and Africa.
