Political Career
Poul Skytte Christoffersen is a Danish diplomat. He established the negotiations of the EU enlargement to allow for the accession of 10 new Central and Eastern European countries. This took place in 2004. He was the Danish Ambassador to the European Union between 1995 and 2003. In 2009 he again became ambassador to the EU, a role which he abdicated from when becoming Special Advisor to Baroness Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.
