Enrico Letta
Enrico Letta born in Pisa on the 20th of August, 1966.He is a centre-left Italian politician who has been the Prime Minister of Italy in 2013-2014, leading a grand coalition, comprising the centre-left Democratic Party (of which he is Deputy Secretary), the right-wing People of Freedom, and the centrist Civic Choice.A party loyalist, he is also a strong supporter of the European Union.
Political career
From 1998 to 1999 he was appointed Minister of European Affairs and from 1999 to 2001 Minister of Industry. He also served as Secretary to the Council of Ministers from 2006 to 2008.
Education
Enrico Letta completed his schooling in Italy at the liceo classico Galileo Galilei in Pisa. He holds a degree in political science, which he received from the University of Pisa and subsequently obtained a Doctorate at the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies.
Notable Work
Letta is the secretary general of the think tank Agenzia di Ricerche e Legislazione (AREL. He founded the associations Trecentosessanta and VeDrò and he is a founding member of the Democratic Party. Letta is a member of the European committee of the Trilateral Commission and of the executive committee of the Aspen Institute Italia.
