José MarÃa Beneyto Pérez
Born the 24th October of 1956 in Valencia (Spain), José María Beneyto Pérez is a spanish politician and a deputy for the People's Party in the 10th term (since 2011).
Political Career
Prof. Dr. Beneyto, elected Congressman in 2011, is the Popular Party’s Spokesman on Foreign Affairs in the Spanish Parliament. He is also the Vice-President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, and is Director of Policy Review of the Popular Party as well as Member of its Executive Committee.
Education
Prof. Dr. Beneyto received a Ph.D. in Law and a Ph.D. in Philosophy and History from the University of Münster (Germany). He graduated with a Master in Law and International Relations from Harvard University in 1990, where he has been Visiting Scholar and Fellow of the Fulbright Foundation at the Center of European Studies. He also has a Business Administration degree from IESE Business School, Madrid. Prof. Beneyto is as well Director of the Institute for European Studies at San Pablo CEU University, Professor in Public International Law and International Relations. He currently holds the Jean Monnet Chair, ad personam, of the European Union. He is also author and editor of books and articles on European and International Law, Economic Law, and International Relations. José María Beneyto Pérez is memeber of the spanish Royal Academy of Jurisprudency and Legislation, of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and a member of the Board of Directors of the Harvard's Club. Prof. Dr. Beneyto collaborate often with "Diario Expansion", a spanish newspaper focused in economics and markets. He is member of the Editorial Board of the "Bussinnes Gazette" (La Gaceta de los Negocios) and member of the Editorial Board of the European Union's and Competition Law Gazette. José María Beneyto Pérez is the Director of the Gómez-Acebo & Pombo Law firm in Brussels.
