Greetje de Vries-Leggedoor, born on the 30th of June 1955 in Ter Apelkanaal, the Netherlands, is a member of the Dutch Senate on behalf of the CDA. She became a member of the Senate on June the 12th 2007 for CDA and has remained so ever since. Before becoming a member of the Senate she fulfilled a number of different political positions within the Netherlands.

Political Career

Before her political career on the national level, De Vries-Leggedoor held a number of positions in local politics. She served for example as a member of the Provincial-Executive in Drenthe, which is part of the executive council of the province as a whole. She has served the public with her extensive knowledge of spatial planning and water management. As mentioned, in 2007 she became a member of the Dutch Senate for CDA, also serving as the party’s secretary for the Senate. Besides her main function she has held numerous advisory board positions over the years.

Education

De Vries-Leggedoor attended Christian secondary school and community college in Stadskanaal, between 1967 and 1971.
