Sybrand van Haersma Buma
Sybrand van Haersma Buma (born on July 30th, 1965 in Workum) is a Dutch politician of the Christian Democratic Appeal (CDA). He has been a member since May 23th, 2002 and Parliamentary group leader since October 12th, 2010. He focuses on matters of judiciary and security policy. He is often called Sybrand Buma.
Political Career
Van Haersma Buma was the secretary of the CDA in The Hague and a member of the executive committee of the CDA in the Province of South Holland in the late 1990s. From January to June 2002 he was a member of the municipal council of Voorburg (South Holland) and since May 2002 he is a member of the Dutch House of Representatives. From 2007 to 2010 he was the secretary of the CDA parliamentary group in the House of Representatives. Since Oktober 12th, 2010 until now Sybrand Buma is the leader of the CDA in the Dutch House of Representatives.
Education
Van Haersma Buma studied law at the State University of Groningen from 1983 until 1989 and followed International Law at the University of Cambridge from 1989 until 1990.
