Aldo Ravazzi Douvan is an economist. Presently he chairs the OECD Committee for Environmental Performance Country Reviews; previously the OECD Committees for Biodiversity, Water & Ecosystems (2010-13) and for the Integration of Environmental & Economic Policies and for Taxation & Environment (2005-2008).

Biography

He has been working for the IRI, the holding of Italian enterprises privatized in the ‘90s and the Italian Ministry of Environment, where he is one of the major advocates of the Italian attempts of green tax reform, proposing a radical shift of taxation from labor to pollution and resources. He is Vice-President of the PLAN BLEU for Environment & Development in the Mediterranean (UNEP-MAP) since 2012. Since 2009 he is Vice-President of Green Budget Europe, a European platform of experts connected to Green Budget Germany (FOES), sustaining Market-Based Instruments for environmental policies and the removal of Environmentally Harmful Subsidies. He is Professor of Sustainable Development at the University of Rome Luiss and Teaching Board for the Master in Environmental Economics & Policy at the University of Rome Tor Vergata. He is a member of the Scientific Committees of the Copenhagen 2014 Global Conference on Environmental Taxation (GCET) and of the Istanbul 2014 World Conference on Environmental & Resource Economists (WCERE). Researcher in green growth and green economy, he was active in Rio+20; as expert in biodiversity financing he is preparing for the CBD-COP in PyeongChang.
