Frank Henkel
Frank Henkel was born on the 16th of November 1963 in Berlin. He has been a member of the German Federal Council for the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) since 2011. He is also the Mayor and the Senator of Interior and Sports of the State of Berlin.
Political career
Since 1986 he has been a member of the CDU. Since 1987 he held several political positions, he was for instance a member of the District Assembly of Berlin Mitte. He has been a member of the Berlin House of Representatives since 2001 and between 2005 and 2008 he was the secretary of the CDU in Berlin. Since 2007, he has been a county chairman of the CDU in Berlin Mitte. As of 2008, he is the chairman of the CDU in Berlin.
Education
Between 1981 and 1984, Henkel studied at the ‘Polytechnische Oberschule’. From 1981 to 1984 he trained as a wholesale and foreign trade merchant. Subsequently, from 1984 to 1986 he did various different commercial activities in the Krupp Group and then studied Economics and Social Sciences. In 1999 he studied at the German Academy for Public Relations, where he was certified as a PR consultant. He then studied journalism at the Free University of Berlin.
