Horst Seehofer
Horst Seehofer was born on the 4th of July 1949 in Ingolstadt. He has been a member of the German Federal Council for the Christian Social Union of Bavaria (CSU) since 2008. Besides, he is the Prime Minister of Bavaria.
Political career
Between 1970 and 1980 he worked at the district administration offices Ingolstadt and Eichstätt. Since 1969 he has been a member of the Young Union and since 1971 a member of the CSU. From 1980 to 2008 he was a member of the German Bundestag. Between 1989 and 1992 he was the Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister for Labour and Social Affairs. Subsequently, from 1992 to 1998 he served as the Federal Minister of Health and between 1998 and 2004 he was the Deputy Chairman of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group and between 1994 and 2008 the Deputy State Chairman of the Christian Social Union. Since 2008 he has been the chairman of the CSU. Between 2000 and 2008 he was the State Chairman of the Christian Social workers. Moreover, between 2005 and 2008 he served as the Federal Minister of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection.
Education
Seehofer graduated in 1979 from the Administration and Business Academy in Munich.
