Magda Berndsen-Jansen (D66) Member of the Dutch House of Representatives

Magda Berndsen-Jansen is a member of the Dutch House of Representatives for the Democrats 66 (D66). She was born in Burdaard on May 4th, 1950.

Political Career

From 1985 until 1990, Magda Berndsen-Jansen was a member of the city council of the Boskoop municipality. From 1988 to 1990, she was an assistant in setting up the secretariat and the Department of Publicity in the Bodegraven municipality. Afterwards, she was the Mayor of Obdam until 1995 and then became the Mayor of Beverwijk until 2000. She was the District Chief of Police of the Hilversum district from 2000 to 2002 and the Police Chief of Gooi and the Vechtstreek region from 2000 until 2006. From 2006 to 2010, she was the Police Chief of the Fryslân region and finally entered into Government on June 17th, 2010 when she joined the Dutch House of Representatives for the D66. She focuses on safety, justice and police and has been the Chairwoman of the Permanent Committee of Home Affairs since 2012 .

Education

Magda Berndsen-Jansen studied MULO in Leiden.
