Baylet, Jean-Michel
Jean-Michel Baylet was born on 17th November 1946 in Toulouse.
Political Education[edit]
Jean-Michel Baylet is a Senator, and leader of the Radical Party of the Left. He is a RDSE Senator representing the Tarn-et-Garonne department. He is also President of the General Council of the Tarn-et-Garonne. He has also served as Mayor of Valence-d'Agen until 2001 and had various roles in the governments of Laurent Fabius, Michel Rocard, Edith Cresson, and Pierre Beregovoy.
Other Roles[edit]
In addition to his political career, he was a journalist for the La Dépêche du Midi newspaper, before he took over the control of the newspaper and other print media from his mother. Baylet was candidate to the citizens’ presidential primary of 2011 (he lost to Martine Aubry, François Hollande, Ségolène Royal, Arnaud Montebourg and Manuel Valls).
He is also a member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Armed Forces, and a member of the European Democratic and Social Rally group. Election
