Bojan Kontič (born July 23, 1961) is a member of the National Council of the Republic of Slovenia and the Vice-President of the Commission for Economic Affairs, Trade, Tourism and Finance within the Council.

Political Career

In 1993, he was appointed Secretary of the Executive Council of the Assembly of the Municipality of Velenje. He performed his tasks until the introduction of local self-government, when he became the Head of the Office of the Mayor and General Affairs of the Municipality of Velenje. In 1996, he was elected to the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia and in 1998, he became also a member of the Council of the Municipality of Velenje. Since then till the local elections in 2010, when he was elected mayor of the Municipality of Velenje, he worked as the Deputy Mayor. Since 2008, Kontič has been the leader of the parliamentary group of the Social Democrats in the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia.

Education

Kontič graduated from the University College of Management in Ljubljana.
