Christos Markogiannakis was born in Chania in 1947. He is a Greek politician and lawyer. He has been a member of the Greek Parliament from 1989 and is the current Deputy Minister of public policy and Prime Minister of the Interior.

Political Career[edit]

He was elected as an MP with ND in the elections of 1989 (June and November), 1990, 1993, 1996, 2000, 2004, 2007 and 2009. In elections in May 2012, he failed to be elected by the Democratic Alliance, however, he was re-elected in June with the New Democracy. He was Deputy Minister of Public Order for the period 2004-2006 and chairman of the Parliamentary Committee of Inquiry on the Vatopedi scandal. In January 2009, he was appointed deputy interior minister, a position he held until October of that year, when he ended the mandate of Karamanlis government.

Education Career[edit]

He studied Law at the University of Athens.
