Efstathia (Efi) Georgopoulou - Saltari

Efstathia Georgopoulou-Saltari was born in Athens in 1954. She is a Greek politician and artist. She was first elected as an MP in the national elections on May 6, 2012 and the runoff elections on June 17 in the prefecture of Ilia.

Political Career[edit]

She actively took part in the trade union movement and joined the Communist Party in 1974. She was a party member and trade unionist. From 1981 to 1989 she was the President of the Women’s Association of Amaliada and had a strong presence in the city’s political and cultural life and the Women’s Emancipation Movement. From 1994 to 1997 she was the Board Secretary of the Music School in Amaliada. She has also been a member of the Boards of the Folklore Museum, Center for Drug Addiction (“Prevention”) and several Parents and Carers Associations. She has also been a member of the Ilia Prefectural Committee of the "Synaspismos" Party since its establishment and a candidate in municipal, parliamentary (2001, 2004) and regional (2010) elections. She was the leader of the "I'm not paying" movement in the City of Elida in Ilia Prefecture.

Education Career[edit]

She is a graduate of the Open University of Patras (Greek Civilization) and the Department of Ceramics, IEK of Volos.

Notable Work[edit]

She is a member of the Pan-Hellenic Union of Greek Ceramists and Potters (PECA) and a member of the World Craft Council of UNESCO.
