Eni S.p.A. is a major integrated energy company that operates in 90 countries. Eni is Italy's largest industrial company with a market capitalization of 68 billion euros as of August 14, 2013. Its main sectors are mining activities, manufacturing, transportation and marketing of resources.

Engagement in Cultural Diplomacy[edit]

Eni is involved in cultural activities by supporting events and contributing to conservation and restoration projects. Eni aims to promote culture through their project named Eniscuola. Eniscuola was created in order to stimulate interest in art among students. Annually, the project involves pupils from various schools and engages them to participate in art exhibitions and other cultural activities. Also, working in collaboration with Vatican museums and the City Council and Diocese of Foligno, Eni organised the Rafaello exhibition in Foligno. The exhibiton has an extraordinary success with around 7,000 visitors every day.

Eni has approximately 80,000 employees in 90 countries. Eni took part as a partner in the 34th edition of the Meeting di Rimini where companies focused on respect for diversity and centrality of the individual. Moreover, the company has underlined during the meeting its values of culture, respect and international vision as well as innovation and research.

Cultural Exchange Programs[edit]

With the intention to respond effectively to the demand for international competence and expertise, Eni has launched its International resources. In 2003, the Eirl Centre of Excellence was launched and soon evolved into an international employer for Eni and is actively recruiting to attract and develop talented internationally mobile staff to meet the needs Eni globally.

Eni has an Internship Program for graduates from Eni’s partner universities who hold Master’s degree in Engineering and Economics completed no longer than 12 months prior.

Eni, in cooperation with various universities, provides study grants for particular courses. The company offers approximately 200 scholarships each year.

Promoting Human- and Civil Rights[edit]

Eni is committed in Human Rights according to the United Nations paradigm "Protect, Respect and Remedy". The company guarantees safety of employees and their rights and creates a collaborative and participatory working environment

Activities in the Field of Humanitarian Aid[edit]

According to the press releases published on Eni’s official website the company provided humanitarian aid to the Democratic Republic of Congo in 2009. Eni delivered the supplies consisting of medical kits, sanitation kits and water-treatment to people of the Democratic Republic of Congo involved in their civil war. In order to contribute to the basic and most urgent needs of Libyan population, Eni has engaged in providing a first supply of refined petroleum products to NTC (the Libyan National Transitional Council) in 2011. Eni has its own foundation, which was established in 2006. It is addressing the ‘issues concerning the safeguarding of fundamental human rights; survival, social development, protection, and education’ (Eni,2014).

Supporting Music and Visual Arts[edit]

Eni supports various musical activities. For instance, it is a founding member of Teatro alla Scalain Milan , partner of the opera season at the Teatro Comunale in Ferrara and the theatre season of the Teatro Fraschini in Pavia. It is also a partner of some performances at the Santa Cecilia Academy in Rome and the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in Florence (Eni, 2014). The company also supports one of Italy’s largest international cultural events held every year. Music, theatre, opera, dance, cinema and other art activities are widely represented during it. In October 2013, the concert "Fantasies from Verdi's Operas" was held as a celebration of the Eni and MIT partnership, highlighting their respective support for the arts. Eni was also the main partner of the Niccolò Machiavell Exhibition, its international tour began in Washington in 2013. ‘The Wunderkammern Art, Nature, Wonder yesterday and today’ exhibition (November 2013-March 2014) is the representation of unique and artistic phenomenon in European history. The Italian and Germanic areas are two main poles represented at the exhibition and the main goal pursued by the project was to show the relationship between art and nature.

Supporting Films Industry[edit]

Eni is the main partner of the Cinémathèque Française (the major French institute for film documentation) tribute to Bertolucci. Eni also was the main partner of the 23rd Festival of African, Asian and Latin American Cinema in 2013.

Supporting Sports[edit]

Eni was the main sponsor of the Winter Universiade Trentino, the outstanding sporting and cultural event in 2013.
