Georgios Orfanos

Georgios Orfanos was born in Thessaloniki in 1953. He is a Greek politician and Civil Engineer.

Political Career[edit]

He was elected as MP for Thessaloniki with the New Democracy in the elections of 1996,2000, 2004 and 2007.

Education Career[edit]

He studied in the Department of Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering from the Polytechnic School of Thessaloniki. He speaks English and German.

Notable Work[edit]

He was Deputy Minister for Culture, and Minister for Sport from 10.3.2004. In1998 he was elected as a member of the Executive Committee of ND Member of the Central Committee of ND. In 1994, he was elected member of the Political Council of N.D. for the period of 2001-2004. He was chairman of the OCC of ND Sport, vice president of the OCC, the Ministry of Environment and a member of the OCC Transport and Communications. Additionally he was also head of the Department of Culture and Sport of Democracy and was responsible for the overall vision and policy for the Olympic Games (2001-2004).
