Grigorios Psarianos

Grigorios Psarianos was born in Athens in 1954. He is a Greek politician and Journalist.

Political Career[edit]

In the 2007 national elections’ he was elected as a member of the Parliament with the left party (SIRIZA) and re-elected in 2009 affiliated with the same party. 
In May 2010 he became an independent M.P. as the Democratic left political party (DIM.AR.) was established.
As member of the Democratic Left in 2012, he was elected again M.P. through the national elections (both May and June).
Throughout the Democratic Left Congress on December 2013, he was re-elected as a member of the Central Committee.

Notable Work[edit]

Politically active since 1972, as a member of the “Outlawed” Rigas Feraios, while studying in the School of Industrial Studies in Piraeus. He actively presented to both the stay-in strikes of the Athens Law School and the Polytechnic school in ’73 – and later on the neighborhoods’ and movements of the post-dictatorship period. 
He was secretary of the Rigas Feraios in Holargos, in the domain of Northern Eastern suburbs of Athens, member of Communist party of the Interior (Esoterikou), founder member of Greek Left (EAR) and of “Synaspismos“, as it started in ’89-90s and of the democratic left (DIM.AR.) in 2010.
For many years he worked in a variety of competitive sectors within the open market including media, press, music, etc. 
He worked for the radio stations “Athens 984” –of which he was a founder-he also worked for “Flash 961”, “ERA”, “941 Communication”, “SevenX”, “KLIK FM” and for “Best 92,6”. 
He has attended the edition of music records and CDs and has been a member of the consultative council of the Festival of Athens and of Thessaloniki Concert Hall. 
He was an athlete and also an active sports fan – founder and Chairman of “ENOSI 1924”, the widespread stock company of the friends of AEK and he has also been member of the board of PAE AEK. 
In 2006 he was elected in the City Council of the Municipality of Athens as a member of the Municipality Movement “Anichti Poli” (Open City). 
As head of “Attiki Gi” party in the local and regional elections of 2010, he was elected as a member of Regional Council of Attiki region. He speaks English and has been deeply involved several times within European affairs and the relationships between Greece and the E.U during his visits to the Euro parliament, Brussels and Strasbourg. He strongly believes in a United Europe, rather than a monetary union, with equal relations of cooperation and solidarity among the European countries.
