Igor Choma, born on 28th January 1964 in Martin, is a member of the National Council of the Slovak Republic for the party Smer-SD, and Mayor of Zilina.

Political career

He is a member of Klub SMER–SD and the president of the Committee on Public Administration and Regional Development. From 2007 to 2010, he served as a Representative of the Government for the construction process of Road Transport Infrastructure in Slovakia. After the election to the National Council in 2010, he was elected as chairman of the Committee for Public Administration and Regional Development. In 2010 he became the Mayor of Zilina.

Education

After graduating from the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the Slovak Technical University in Bratislava, he worked in Moscow as an agent of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
