Ilse Aigner was born in Feldkirchen-Westerham in 1964. Since 1985 she has been a member of the CSU, and a member of the Federal Council since October 2013.

Political Career[edit]

Ilse Aigner was a member of the Landtag of Bavaria from 1994 to 1998 and again since 2013. In 1990 she became a member of the Municipal Council of Feldkirchen-Westerham, and kept her mandate until 1998. She joined the County Council of Rosenheim in 1990 until 1999, and became a member of the German Bundestag in 1998 until 2013.

From 1999 to 2011 Ilse Aigner worked as a Deputy CSU district chairman of Upper Bavaria, and in 2007, she became a member of the Presidium of the CSU. As of 2011, she has worked as the CSU district chairman of Upper Bavaria. Additionally, she was the Federal Minister of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection from 2008 to 2013.

Since October 2013, she has held the mandate as a Bavarian State Minister for Economic Affairs and Media, Energy and Technology and Deputy Prime Minister of Bavaria.

Education[edit]

From 1981 to 1985, Ilse Aigner took part in vocational training for a radio and television technician. Furthermore, she has professional practice in her medium electro-craft business, where she worked from 1985 to 1988. She went to a technical college and graduated with a degree as a certified electrical engineer. From 1990 to 1994 she worked on the development of electrical systems for helicopters at Eurocopter.
