Jouni Backman

Jouni Backman was born on the 30th of March 1959 in Savonlinna, Finland. He has been a member of the Finnish parliament since 1987 representing the Social Democrats parliamentary group. He has been married since 1987 and has two children.

Political Career

Jouni Backman started his political career as a member of the Social Democrats youths in 1984. In 1985 he became a member of the City Council of Savonlinna and between 2009-2012 he was the Chairman of the Council. He was elected a Member of Parliament in 1987 and represents the Social Democrats. Between 2003-2007 he was the Chairman of the parliamentary group. In 2002-2003 he was the Finnish minister of the environment.

Education

He studied the Social Sciences in 1978.
