Marija Lugarić

Marija Lugarić was born on 5 June 1978 in Zagreb, Croatia. She is a member of the Social Democratic Party of Croatia (SDP; Croatian: Socijaldemokratska partija Hrvatske) and has been a member of the Croatian Parliament (Hrvatski sabor) during its fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh term.

Political Career

In 1997 Lugarić was elected the first female chairperson of The Youth Forum (Croatian: Forum mladih SDP-a, FM SDP) and became a member of the Main Committee of the Social Democratic Party (SDP). Lugarić has been a member of the Croatian Parliament since 2000. Her current mandate began on 22 December 2011. She is a member of the Legislation Committee, a member of the Labour, Retirement System and Social Partnership Committee, a member of the Committee on the Family, Youth and Sports, a member of the Interparliamentary Co-operation Committee, and a member of the Executive Committee of the National Group to the Inter-Parliamentary Union. Previously, Lugarić was a member of the Education, Science and Culture Committee.

Education

Lugarić graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Zagreb, Department of Paedagogical Sciences - primary school teacher.
