María Eugenia Iparragirre Bemposta

María Eugenia Iparragirre Bemposta was born on 25th June 1968 in Irun, Spain. She is a Spanish politician, member of the Senate and member of Euzko Alderdi Jeltzalea-Partido Nacionalista Vasco (EAJ-PNV).

Political Career[edit]

Since her youth, she has participated in various social organizations and NGO’s based in Irun. From 1989 until 2007 she was a professor at the school of El Pilar in Irun.

In 2004 she joined the EAJ-PNV party and from 2006 to 2007 she was a member of the Municipal Board of EAJ-PNV in the Regional Assembly. In the municipal elections of 2007, she was head of the EAJ-PNV list of Irun and municipal spokesperson of EAJ-PNV at the Town Hall during the period between 2007 and 2011.

Since the 1st May 2015, she has been a Spanish Senator representing the Basque parliamentary group in the Senate. She has been spokesman of her parliamentarian group in the Commission on International Development, Commission on Economy and Competitiveness, Commission on Development and Commission on Equality.

Education[edit]

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in teaching.
