Today, April 13th, is the last day of the 50th edition of the Famous Italian Wine & Spirits Exhibition called Vinitaly, which takes place every year in Verona and is considered the main event and the number one exhibition in the world related to the wine industry.

It consists of four days of big events, tastings, workshops and meetings between exhibitors and trade operators of the sector, with a rich program of conferences, which examines themes related to supply and demand of wine in Italy, Europe and the rest of the world. The trade fair is part of Veronafiere initiatives since 1977.

This year Sergio Mattarella, President of the Italian Republic, inaugurated for the first time the 50th Vinitaly in Verona, announcing that "This exhibition has helped to stimulate the growth of a great Italian product".

The inauguration ceremony was also attended by the President of Veronafiere, Maurizio Danese, the Minister of Agriculture, Maurizio Martina, the Governor of the Region Veneto, Luca Zaia, and the Mayor of Verona, Flavio Tosi. Vinitaly is the event that, more than any other, has marked the evolution of the wine system on a national and international scale, helping to make wine one of the most exciting and dynamic realities in the primary sector.

Entering the big Vinitaly world, visitors can find huge halls, each of them dedicated to a single Italian region, where exhibitors can present their unique products through promotional activities and tastings. Trade operators are expected to come from more than 140 countries. One day is not enough to explore the exhibition: as a matter of fact it is developed in nineteen big halls, everyone with a vast number of stands and activities taking place there.

As mentioned before, the program includes workshops, meetings and tastings to promote business between exhibitors and foreign buyers and also events such as “Taste Italy”: a tasting event within the fair, which promotes the national wine production and attracts the Italian brand and buyers from over 100 countries.

Sol & Agrifood and Enolitech exhibitions are also held alongside Vinitaly.

For wine lovers who want to experience the magic of Vinitaly in a special place, the historical centre of Verona will host from the 8th to the 11th April an intense program of tastings and events during the off-show event called “Vinitaly and the City”.

Finally, it is important to say that Vinitaly produces a very good economic income for the city of Verona, which is hosting also different side events related to the trade fair, that attracts every year thousands of visitors. Moreover the 50th editions has increased investments for all incoming activities, facilities and company services, bringing the fair to a top quality. This year the cost of the entrance tickets was 80€, that can sound expensive, but since Vinitaly is a “must” for both wine experts and lovers, the cost is not preventing people from participating to this famous exhibition.
