Henk van Gerven

Henricus Petrus Johannes (Henk) van Gerven, born on the 11th of March 1955 in Riethoven, the Netherlands, is a Dutch politician, as well as a general practitioner. As a member of the Dutch Socialist Party (Socialistische Partij) he has been an MP since November 30, 2006. Serving in the Dutch House of Representatives, he focuses mainly on matters of health care, natural environment and public expenditure.

Career[edit]

Van Gerven worked as a general practioner in Oss between 1984 and 1998 and between 2000 and 2003. He served as an alderman and member of the municipal council in the municipality of Oss between 1996 and 2000, as well as between 2003 and 2006. Before that, from 1995 to 1996, he was a member of the States-Provincial of the province of North Brabant.

Education[edit]

From 1967-1973 Van Gerven did pre-university secondary education (Gymnasium), after which he started to study Medicine at Nijmegen University. He finished his study in 1984, after succesfully finishing his general practice.
