María Olaia Fernández Davila

María Olaia Fernández Davila, born in Castrelos (Vigo) on the 27th January of 1954, is a Spanish national deputy elected for the constituency of Pontevedra in the 10th term. She is a member of BNG, (Galician Nationalist Party).

Political Career[edit]

María Olaia Fernández Davila was elected as national deputy for the first time in the 8th term and then re-elected in the 9th and in the current term. During the current term, she is acting as deputy member of the Standing Committee. She is also spokesperson of the Budget Commission, the Equality Commission and member of the Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Commision. Before becoming a national deputy, María Olaia Fernández had also been a regional deputy (1993-2003) in the Galician Parliament and after that a councillor of the city of Vigo (2003-2005). It is also notable in her political career her engagement in trade union movement where she started in the 70’s, firstly as member of the CIG (Galician Inter-Union Confederation) and then of the National Inter-Union of the Galician Workers (Intersindical Nacional dos Traballadores Galegos- in his Galician name).
