Radovan Stanislav Pejovnik

Radovan Stanislav Pejovnik (born May 4, 1946) is a member of the National Council of the Republic of Slovenia and the former Rector of the University of Ljubljana.

Political career[edit]

His political activities include being a Councilor of the Municipality of Ljubljana and the President of The Science and Technology Council of the Republic of Slovenia. During 2000-2003 he held the position of the State Secretary for Higher Education.

Professional career[edit]

Pejovnik has a very rich professional career. Most of his work took place at the University of Ljubljana where he started as an associate professor and went on to be a Professor, the Vice- Dean and the Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. In 2009 he became the Rector of the University of Ljubljana, a position he occupied till 2013.

He was also a Visiting Professor at the North Carolina State University in USA and at the Technische Universität Graz in Austria.

Last but not least, he was also the Director of the National Institute of Chemistry in Slovenia.

Education[edit]

Pejovnik graduated, completed his Masters in chemistry and obtained his PhD in chemical sciences at the University of Ljubljana. During 1967-1977 he was a visiting researcher at the Max Planck Institut für Werkstoffwissenschaften in Stuttgart.
