Yann Wehrling

Yann Wehrling, born 3 July 1971 in Strasbourg, France, is an illustrator, French politician, Democratic Movementmember and former leader of the political party The Greens.

Political Career[edit]

He started his political career first joining Les Verts in 1989. From 1992 to 1994 he served as National Secretary of “EcoloJ”, a youth environmental organization. After having completed his studies of fine arts in Strasbourg in 1994, he worked as an illustrator, for the French-German television channel Arte and for the Irish channel TnaG. After that, he was firstly appointed spokesman of Les Verts and, in 2005, he was elected National Secretary of the party, receiving 62% of the votes. He held the position for 2 years. During these years, he belonged to the environmentalist wing of the party (named “Pôle Écolo” or “Écolo”) and he worked with fellow green politicians in the European Parliament. In 2008, he joined the Democratic Movement.
