About ASML Holding[edit]
ASML is a company based and founded in The Netherlands. It is the largest supplier in the world of photolithography systems for the semiconductor industry. The company produces machines for the production of integrated circuits. ASML has more than 70 locations in 16 countries.
Engagement in Cultural Diplomacy[edit]
ASML’s engagement in Cultural Diplomacy is relatively high, despite the fact that their employment policy and their promotion of human and civil rights is not extensively described on the website. They offer numerous scholarship programs and internship opportunities in the Netherlands also available for foreigners. Moreover, ASML has its own foundation through which it mainly supports educational projects around the world. Finally, ASML is an active sponsor of cultural, sport and other events and initiatives.

International Internship Programs[edit]
ASML offers internships in their headquarters located in Vedhoven, but also in its branches in Europe and US. The background of the applicant could be diverse, with available positions varying from software engineering to business administration and non-technical specializations. Applications are also open for foreign students.
Grants and Scholarships[edit]
ASML provides two types of scholarships, the first being the ASML Technology Scholarship which grants technical students 5,000 euros support per year for their Master Degrees. The second program is the the ASML Henk Bodt Scholarship. This program is addressed to students who want to complete their Master degree in one of ASML partner universities in the Netherlands and ASML will provide them with financial support for two years. Finally, two categories of students are eligible for the ASML Wilton Technology Scholarship. Students who have completed the Bachelor of Science program from a recognized US college or university in the Northeast-and are going to do a two years full time Master of Science degree at a recognized university constitute for the first group. Under the second category applies to students of Connecticut high schools entering a Bachelor of Science program at a recognized college or university within the US and want to do a degree with a focus in technical and scientific disciplines.
Cooperation with Universities[edit]
ASML collaborates with various study associations of universities in The Netherlands and Belgium, with possibility of extending the parternship with foreign universties, too. They sponsor lunch lectures, excursions and participation in events throughout the academic year.

Activities in the Field of Humanitarian Aid[edit]
ASML has its own foundation- the ASML Foundation, which was founded in 2001. It is closely linked to the company, but it operates independently. The organisation’s main focus is on improving the economic and social self-reliance of children by supporting educational projects in various countries around the world.
Sponsoring[edit]
ASML sponsors in two ways: through the ASML Foundation and through Corporate Sponsoring. ASML Foundation supports educational projects across the world. Corporate sponsoring focuses on sponsoring activities in communities where they are located. Through their Corporate Sponsorship program, ASML donated a total amount of 487,000 euros to various institutions in the Eindhoven region in 2013. ASML gives donations to institutions in four different areas: community/charity, sports, education and culture.
Promoting Human and Civil Rights[edit]
On their website they provide a short statement about human rights. They highlight that they respect human rights in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as proclaimed by the United Nations. The goals set for 2014 are included in the renewed Code of Conduct and Business Principles and concern issues of respect, ethics, human rights, commitment to processes and side activities. For the realization of those goals, additional managerial training would take place.
