Agustín Conde Bajén (Toledo, June 6, 1965) is a Castilian-Manchego politician.

Political Career[edit]

He began his political career in 1991, when he was included in the lists for municipal elections at number ten candidacy for Toledo and then elected councillor. He was the appointed Spokesman of the Popular Party in the City of Toledo. That same year, in October, he chaired the Provincial Manager of PP in Toledo for a few months until the provincial congress of 1992. After the municipal and regional elections of June 1999, he was then elected as deputy of the Castile-La Mancha, and he was appointed senator for this region for the remainder period (1999-2000) of VI national legislature. In the following, the VII, which began after the elections of March 2000, continued as a popular senator from Castilla-La Mancha. On May 9, 2002, Conde resigned as PP regional president of Castilla-La Mancha since in the previous elections he was defeated by José Bono and accepted the offer of the National Party to occupy the Executive Secretariat of Research and Programs, which is responsible for the ideological and programmatic definition of PP. He was elected Senator in the 2004 general election and re-elected in 2008, a position in which he remained until the dissolution of Parliament in the year 2011. In this period he was the Spokesman for the People's Party in the Judiciary Committee of the Senate, spokesman for his group in the commission of Defence, a member of the Constitutional commissions, Interior, and mixed for the European Union. He has was involved in the implementation of eighteen processed laws in the Senate. Internationally he has been a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Western European Union, the NATO Parliamentary Assembly and the Council of Europe. Within the latter was part of the Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights, the Committee on Social Affairs, Family and Children Affairs and was Deputy Chairman of the Subcommittee on Combating Terrorism and Organized Crime.

In the general elections of November 20, 2011 he was elected as a Member of Parliament.

Education[edit]

He has a degree in Law from the Complutense University of Madrid; Diploma in Advanced Studies in Law (Department of Constitutional Law, University Complutense of Madrid, and a Diploma in National Defence (School of Higher Studies for National Defence, Ministry of Defence, Spain. He has been a practising attorney since 1988 and is in possession of the following decorations: Cross of Honour of St. Raymond of Penafort, Grand Officer of the Order of Civil Merit of Portugal; Medal for Meritorious Service to the Bar and Gold Medal of the City of Toledo.
