Alain Bertrand
Alain Bertrand (born February 23, 1951) is a French Senator representing the Department of Lozére and a member of the French Socialist Party.
Political Career[edit]
Bertrand entered politics in 2001 when he became a Municipal Councilor for Mende. In 2008, he was elected Mayor of Mende.
In 2011, Bertrand was elected to the French Senate for the Department of Lozére. However, the Constitutional Council annulled his election to the Senate on December 22, 2011, following a request from his predecessor and opponent, Jacques Blanc after Bertrand only won the seat by 0.58 percent of the vote. In 2012, he won the by-election called to fill the seat by nine percent.
In the Senate, Bertrand serves on the Committee for European Affairs and the Economics Committee.
