Alexander Miesen

Alexander Miesen, born in Prüm on March 16, 1983, is a Belgian politician of the Partei für Freiheit und Fortschritt (PFF).

Political Career[edit]

From 2006 to 2010, he was political advisor to Senator Berni Collas (PFF) and Minister Bernd Gentges (PFF). He then worked as a parliamentary assistant for the PFF fraction in the Parliament. Since 2012, Miesen was member of parliament of the German Community, where ,in 2013, was elected as chairman until its dissolution in 2014. As of 2014, he is a community senator. At the local level, he is councillor since 2006 in his hometown Büllingen.

On January 21, 2013, Alexander Miesen took over the Presidency of the Parliament of the German-speaking Community after the death of the former President Ferdel Schröder (PFF). Miesen was the youngest President of the Parliament in the history of the German-speaking Community. In the German-speaking Community Council Elections of 2014, he obtained 1,472 preference votes and was re-elected.

Miesen has a bachelor's degree in Law.
