Baroness Brinton

Sarah Brinton was born on the 1st April 1955. She is a member of the British Liberal Democrats.

Political Career[edit]

She took her place on the House of Lords in February 2011, as Baroness Brinton of Kenardington in the County of Kent. She was previously a councillor in 1993 for Cambridgeshire County Council. Brinton attempted to become an MP in the 1997 and 2001 General Elections by contesting the parliamentary seat of South East Cambridgeshire.

Education[edit]

She was educated at Benenden independent school. She subsequently went on to study at Churchill College, Cambridge and the Central School of Speech and Drama. In 2003 she gained an honorary PHD due to her contribution to education, skills and learning.

Notable Work[edit]

Brinton began her career at the BBC where she worked on programs such as Playschool, Grandstand and Dr Who. She is a founding member of the Board of the East of England Development Agency. She is currently a non-executive director of the University for Industry which is a charity that gives grants from within the skills and technology sector.
