Branko Grims
Branko Grims (born August 26, 1962) is a member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia and a member of the Slovenian Democratic Party (Slovenian: Slovenska demokratska stranka, also known by the acronym SDS).
Political Career[edit]
He was first elected National Assembly in 2004 and from July 2014 he is serving the 4th mandate. From 1997 till 2002, he was also a member of the National Council.
Grims was a founding member of the Social Democrat Alliance of Slovenia (Socialdemokratska stranka Slovenije - SDZS) in 1987; on the Ist Congress, he was elected to the Executive Committee SDZS where he has continuously worked until today. In the years 1991-1992, he was a member of the first democratically elected Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia and from 1990 till 1994 he performed the function of the Secretary of the Executive Council and the Assembly of the Municipality of Kranj. Over the years Grims took over different functions at the SDS; he was the General Secretary from1993 till 1995, in the years 1995-1997, he worked as the head of the campaign headquarters SDS, he was also an expert associate to the deputy group of the SDS from 2002 till 2004 and the President of SDS since 2005.
Education[edit]
In 1987, he graduated from the Department of Geology at Faculty of Natural Sciences in Ljubljana and he has a master's degree in political science from the Faculty of Social Sciences in Ljubljana.
