Carmelo Lo Monte
Carmelo Lo Monte was born on February 15th 1956 in Graniti, Messina, Sicily. He is an Italian politician for the party Centro Democtratico. He has a degree in Law and is a qualified lawyer.
Political career[edit]
From 1990 to 1994 he was the Mayor of Graniti, Messina. In 1996 he became member of the Regional Assembly of Sicily for the district of Messina with the Partito Popolare Italiano. From 1998 to 1999 he was vice president of Sicily and from 1999 to 2000 he was Regional Councillor for Health. In 2001 he was re-elected member of the Regional Assembly of Sicily for the district of Messina with the Partito Democrazia Europea. From August 2001 to August 2004 he was a member of Institutional Affairs Commition. From September 2004 to June 2006 he was Sicily Regional Councillor for Cooperation and Trade. In the European elections of 2004 he was the third of the list Unione Democtratici di Centro(UDC) with 73.668 votes. In the general elections of 2006 he was elected to the Italian Chamber of Deputies for the lists Lega Nord and Mpa (Movimento per le autonomie). From 2006 to 2008 he was member of the Social Affairs Commission and of the Antimafia Commission. In April 2008 he was re-elected to the Italian Chamber of Deputies for the list Movimento per le autonomie for the district of Sicily. In February 2013 he was re-elected to the Italian Chamber of Deputies for the list Centro Democratico for the district of Sicily. Additionally, from May 2013 to June 2013 he was member of the Social Affairs Commission, from June 2013 to September 2014 he was member of the Public and Private Job Commission, and from September 2014, he was member of the Culture Science and Education Commission.
