Christian Höbart
Christian Höbart, born on June 9, 1975 in Vienna, is an Austrian politician and Member of Parliament for the FPÖ (Freiheitliche Partei Österreichs; Freedom Party of Austria).
Political Career[edit]
Höbart has held a number of positions within the FPÖ since 2004. He took over in 2007 as a district party chairman of the FPÖ District Mödling group, and in mid-2012 he was also elected as local party chairman in his home town of Guntram. After the state elections in Lower Austria on March 3, 2013, where the FPÖ lost around 2.3% and plummeted to 8.2%, Höbart was, after a week-long change and optimization process within the FPÖ, elected as new executive state party chairman of the FPÖ.
Höbart was first elected to the National Council after the 2008 general election. He was sworn in on October 28, 2008. Höbart is also the youth spokesman for the Freedom Party and a member of the Committees for Economic Affairs and Industry, Science, Research and Innovation, Family Affairs and Sports Affairs. After the national elections of 2013, Höbart was again elected to the National Council and sworn in for a second term October 29, 2013. Höbarts parliamentary committee memberships remained unchanged, with the exception of Family, where Höbart is now no longer active but instead is part of the Committee on Petitions and Citizens' Initiatives.
Education[edit]
Christian Höbart attended the Technical College (HTL) Mödling and graduated in 1994, specializing in industrial engineering. Subsequently, he did his military service in the Austrian army. He then worked as a technical clerk in an industrial company, before he took over sales positions at information technology companies such as Software AG and Oracle. From 2007 to 2011, Höbart was a member of the management executive of an information technology company.
