Darragh O'Brien
Darragh O'Brien was born on the 8th of July 1974. He is an Irish Politician who is currently a member of the Irish Upper House (Seanad Eireann).
Political Career[edit]
O'Brien is a member of the Irish Fianna Fail Party. His first role in politics was a seat on the Fingall County Council. He became a Teachta Dala (TD) in 2007, in which he was chosen to represent the Dublin North Constituency. During his role as a TD, he was placed on a number of committees. He was Vice Chair of Public Accounts committee as well as a Member of the Select Committee on Justice, Equality, Defence and Women's Rights. He also served on the front bench as a spokesperson for sport. In March 2011 he was elected to the Irish Upper House in which he is the leader of the opposition. He is currently campaigning on a number of local issues, which include campaigning against government cuts to smaller schools and keeping the Garda stations open.
Notable Works[edit]
He led in the acquiring of €1.2m which was spent on improvements and refurbishment of local schools since 2007. Additionally, he led in the St Cronan’s Senior NS - Grants Awarded initiative as well as developments such as the Gaelscoil Bhrian Boroimhe - new 16-classroom school building under way.
