Emmanouil Kefalogiannis

Emmanouil Kefalogiannis was born in Heraklio in 1959. He is a Greek politician.

Political Career[edit]

He began his political career as a member of ONNED in 1974 and served as Chairman of the GAP-NDFK in Great Britain. In 1990 he was first elected with New Democracy in Heraklion. Since then he has been reelected in 1993, 1996, 2000, 2004, 2007, 2009 and 2012. He served as Minister of Mercantile Marine, from March 2004 to September 2007. Since 2007 he has represented Greece at the Council of Europe and has been Chairman of the Hellenic-Arab friendship.

In 2009 he became the Parliamentary Spokesman for New Democracy. In July 2012, it was announced that he would head the Parliamentary Representation of New Democracy, especially in economic matters bills. On August 30th, 2012 he was elected Secretary of the Political Committee of the New Democracy, with the support of party president Antonis Samaras. He has been awarded with the Cross of the Apostles Paul and Titus Church of Crete. (I.Mitropoli Arkalohori, Kastelli and Viannou Ecumenical Patriarchate).

In the elections of 2014 he was elected as an MEP with the New Democracy.

Education Career[edit]

He studied Economics at the University of Athens and completed postgraduate studies at the University of Reading and the London School of Economics on European Integration, Strategy and Security in Europe, European History and Politics.
