Eugeniusz Czykwin

Eugeniusz Czykwin - (born on 12th September 1949 in Orla, Poland) is a Polish politician, journalist, activist of the Orthodox church community and the Belarusian minority, Member of Parliament and the Polish People's Republic IX, X, I, IV, V, VI and VII of the term (in years 1985 to 1993 and again from 2001).

Political Career[edit]

In 1991-1993 he was a Member of Parliament for the Orthodox Election Committee (Komitet Wyborczy Prawosławnych). He was a co-founder of the Act of July 4, 1991 Relation of the State to the Polish Autocephalous Orthodox Church. From 1998 to 2001 he was a member of the council of Podlasie. In 2001 and 2005 he was again elected to the Parliament on behalf of the Democratic Left Alliance. In the fourth term, he worked the Act of 6 January 2005 on National and Ethnic Minorities and Regional Language. In the parliamentary elections in 2007, he was reelected a deputy of the district Podlasie. In 2008, he was a member of the club parliamentary Left (Lewica). In 2011 he was a candidate in the parliamentary elections for the election committee of the Democratic Left Alliance in constituency in Bialystok and won a parliamentary seat.

He was awarded: Officer's Cross of the Order of the Rebirth of Polish (1997) and the Silver Cross of Merit (1984).

Education[edit]

He graduated from the Faculty of Warsaw University of Railway Transport.
